Hello Everyone,
This is my First year with chicken's my parents bought me 4 chicks for Easter last April 2012 so as of April 11Th, 2013 my 3 Ladies, and a Man will be a Year old I live in Maine So i wanted a very hearty, and non aggressive Birds.I did some research of what I wanted and decided on the silver laced wyandottes. I learned as much as I could about them while they where only two days old, when I got them. I took a guess I had 1 male and 3 female and I was correct. It was so cool. I live in the boonies, and they have a barn of their own, and my girls names are Baby, Girl, and Gully, and my Rooster is Drumstick, I know what a cliche huh?..lol. I have had a blast, and I love them dearly. The girl's loved winter, but drumstick was not impressed what so ever. the picture as my avatar was their very first snow fall. I'm thinking about raising some chicks with a Brody, and Gully does a great job. the other 2 are more about getting out, gully she eats, stretches and then back in the barn I heated it all winter, and since they where chicks I have had a red light on them, and they wont go into the barn without that light, so they are quiet babied. Drumstick is awesome about keeping them on my property, the girls love to take off, and see other things. drumstick, is a good boy he's the protector, and he tattles on the girls. My big huge Bull mastiff/ pit bull mix raised them from chicks, in a rabbit cage in my living room. I wasn't able to feed, or water until he checked, and made sure they were all there and in good health every morning. Now he's afraid of Drumstick. When we throw the ball for my dog, drumstick is the crowd, he likes to yell, and he love to drive me crazy coming to the front door, and crowing till I come out, and notice him flapping is his beautiful black, and white feather's I do it to him, and he goes about his day. My animals have never been normal, their not just my chicken's their my family.
