Hatching
Hi everyone,
I'm new here...
My significant other and I are getting into "urban homesteading" and I wanted to share a little so far... Because it's turning into a hobby without a doubt for the both of us! Together we are enjoying gardening, eating more organically, improving our land, raising chickens, composting, learning about harmful chemicals, ect. Both of us grew up with chickens and livestock- so neither of us are newbies per se. Eventually we would like to get a couple dairy goats within our means. For now we are taking things one step at a time.
It goes without saying that our chickens are going to become a huge part of our little homestead. We purchased 8 Buff Orphington (3 of which are roosters) and 3 Golden Sex Links to start out- total of 11 chickens. We will absolutely not be keeping all 3 roosters. I've been spending time with our little flock every day socializing them, and plan on keeping the friendliest and most docile rooster.
We have plans on adding a few Rhode Island Reds to our flock here shortly as well.
