I'm fairly new to raising chickens. My husband and I moved out to the country almost 1 year ago, my closest neigbor gave us bantam hen with 3 chicks and a rooster. We had our first chick's born in December right after Christmas. Out of 10 eggs , 4 hatched and 3 survived. We still have much to learn, looking forward to learning from and with ya'll

so glad you have joined us.

Congrats on getting your own flock and the new additions ( sorry about the losses).

If you haven't already explored here, you should visit the Learning Center.

Welcome!

Sorry to hear of your loss but best wishes to you and the flock.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
