Soo... I'm very new to raising chickens and I'm trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can. I will be getting my first chicks very soon. I live in the middle of Nebraska so it gets fairly cold on the winter. They will live indoors until spring and then go outside to a brand new hen house I am building for them.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group. Topic of the Week - Winter Egg Laying and Topic of the week - Winter chicken keeping might be of some assistance.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out;)
