The coop is 4x6 and total is 14x6. Is that not going to be big enough for my 12 babies.

The general "rule of thumb" for a coop is approximately 4 sq. feet per bird (that's just a generality, things like weather can impact that because chickens may spend more time in colder seasons). The 4 sq. feet rule does not include space taken up by roosts, nesting boxes, etc.

Using the measurements you gave, 4x6 that equals about 24 sq. feet. Someone can correct my math if I'm off but I see it as 4' x 6' = 24 sq. feet. If you divide 24sq. ft. by 4 sq. per bird, that = 6. So a coop the size you mention would be too small for 12 chickens.

Ok so I had no idea they needed so much space. I redesigned my coop to now be 12x6 and the run will be 12x14. Thank you for the heads up. Last thing I want is angry chickens running around.
