Hello everyone

AND you have a chicken friendly dog too?? They have chosen you. This is meant to be!
If those were my chickens, I'd have collected them by the first night they went missing. All mine are accounted for nightly. It sounds like these chickens are either ferals or someone doesn't give a hoot about their birds.

Really? Do you close them in at night or let them out in the morning?
(laughing) I hope it is meant to be! Yes, I guess my dog is a chicken-friendly dog too. She is an older dog, 12 years old or maybe 11 years old, some kind of lab/mix at a healthy 75 pounds. Since I have been on this site for 3 years... not spying, just reading some and learning some bits here and there...maybe it's possible they are or have been manifested for me!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock!:welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry. There is always space for members on the BYC roost!:highfive:

I would take advantage of your landlord's suggestion and get a coop built or purchased. You never know what predators roam your area. Once they get a chicken, they will keep returning for more. I also think the best time to order chicks is in the spring, hatcheries and local feed stores are loaded with poultry at that time of year.

Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya

So glad you came out of the shadows...
Thank you so much. And just to give everyone an update, my chicken coop is started! It's going to be a variation on the Maine Coop that was somewhere on your site, but no enclosure at all since they are free-rangers already.
