Hello Everyone!

Welcome to BYC :welcome
the 3 in the last pic are males.
That's what I suspected, but was holding out hope that they weren't. When is the "right time" to rehome these boys? Frankly, they are really friendly fellows, and don't mind being held...

The kids are going to be sad but having chickens in our home is introducing them to a different kind of relationship with the animals they care for.

Thank you!

Well do you have to get rid of them? Roosters can be really sweet. They could start crowing soon. It looks like you may have more than 3, could you get some more pics?

Hello, and welcome to BYC. We'd need individual pictures for sure, but you have at least 3 cockerels, and to me, other birds look suspiciously male.
I'll try to have them take some mug shots... they weren't keen on cooperating last evening! We think 3 are pretty definite maybes, and two others are trending towards roosters too.

Thanks for the insight.

Sadly, the city ordinance explicitly prohibits roosters within the city... Probably a silly question, but we had our male cat and dog neutered, is there any way to neuter them? Likely there is little return on that investment, and I doubt there are many caponizing clinics for roosters near by!!!

Well the way they canonize is painful and cruel to the cockerel. It’s better to give them away or cull.

You do have a few roos.

Welcome to BYC from Arizona! This is the place to be for all your chicken news, connections to helpful chicken folks and more!
@HensKY are you from/in Kentucky? I was born there. If you do need to rehome/cull them you might find someone close by in the Where am I? Where are You? forum for your state.
Surprisingly I have found a rooster refuge (thru craigslist) close by me although I keep my roosters or cull them myself when necessary.
