Hello everyone! I'm Bee and our family is very new to the world of chickens. We've considered getting our own little backyard flock for a while, and spent a good deal of time researching, but have only had our babies since early April. We've 6 bantam lovelies. One blue sex-link Easter Egger pullet (born April 5th), a straight run Buff Brahma (born April 12th), and 4 mysteries from Tractor Supply. Lol. Four of the chickens we originally got died in transit or within days of arrival, and we are still torn up over their deaths. We have a large family, and our animals make up the vast majority of it (4 humans vs 12 animals lol) so we were quite upset over the loss. We also have 2 dogs, 4 indoor cats, and we've keep aquariums in the past before we moved. We also have two little ones, age 2 and 4, and the chickens have been an extremely educational experience on perception vs. reality for them (you may think you're being peaceful, but the chicks disagree, how can we be softer and slower to not frighten them). My husband and I both work full time at the same company; him as a data integrity coordinator, and myself as a department manager. We have a busy family, but we're excited and ready to make chickens a large part of who we are as a family, and to love them. Thanks for allowing me to join the community!
