I never removed chicks and mom's from the flock. I doubt you'll have any problems in your small flock. Just make sure the chick can get to water and feed. Change the whole flock to a good grower feed with 18 to 20% protein. Add oyster shell on the side for your hens, and chick grit for the chick.
