In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- I first got chickens in 2018, and raised and bred them for a few years. Circumstances forced us to move, and I had to remove my flock. We have now moved to a property with plenty of room for birds, and I am restarting my flock as soon as possible.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- None at this exact moment, but we are (hopefully) finishing our setup this weekend!
(3) What breeds do you have?
- I will be building my flock with Black Orpingtons! I've had many breeds before, but my Orps were very dear to me.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- I absolutely love spending time outside with my birds, watching them do their thing and come up for attention. The eggs are a definite plus as well.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- I am an amateur coder and spend my (little) free time playing my favorite online game and researching chickens.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- Stay at home mom here! My days are spent with my toddler, 1 indoor cat, 4 outdoor cats (stray adopts), my Catahoula mix, and my husband when he gets home.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I joined BYC in 2018, when my husband surprised me with my first chicks. I lost the ability to log into that account, so here I am. I loved the community then, and I know I'll still love it now!
