My name is Max and I’m excited to finally make an account! I’ve been reading the forums for a while now and finally decided to take the plunge! I got my first 6 chicks 2 years ago now, four Rhode Island Reds and two white leghorns. Currently I only have 5 as one got picked off by a hawk but looking into getting more! I also have 8 fawn and white Indian Runner ducklings that I’m currently raising. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, hiking, and watching the chickens. Like I said previously I’ve been a longtime lurker, but one of my girls was attack by a coyote yesterday and I wanted to get some advice from the wonderful people on this forum!

Hiya, Max, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I'm sorry about the coyote. There have been several incidents lately and the best thing we can say is to beef up your run or coop. Electric poultry netting or 1/2" hardware cloth are the two most-used things by people building stealthy coops and runs or repairing their current ones.

If you posted a picture of your setup, some of us will try help you figure out a plan. Coyotes will lurk now and wait for another opportunity.
