I have raised chickens in the past. I recently started raising chickens again. From TSupply I purchased in February 4 white Brahma chicks and two starlighter chicks. The chickens are 5 months old now. The “2”Starlighter hens have both started laying eggs. (The Brahmas mature later and won’t start laying of another month or two). I have a dark brown starlighter and a golden colored one. The dark brown starlighter has been laying 1 egg every day. They are perfect brown eggs, they have yolks, but they are very small. After a solid week of laying I thought they would get bigger. Now my second golden starlighter hen has laid her first egg today. A lovely blue color, has a yolk and like the other starlighter she too has a small egg. I have never had a chicken lay such small eggs. My girls are all raised in a Omlet hen house. They are fed laying hen feed. Have plenty of water and a lot of time out in back yard. My hens all run to me and follow me around. The two starlighters have started doing the funny squatting near me basically accepting me as the rooster lol. I rub their backs. That is how I knew they were about to start laying. The Brahmas don’t do the squatting yet. So my question is, “will these two hens start eventually laying bigger eggs?” Thank you for your help in advance!
