I've been raising chickens for 6 years now and recently hatched a pair of Silver Appleyard ducks to add to the group here in Tucson, Arizona.

I have 2 French White Marans, 1 Black Marans, 3 Black Copper Marans and 2 Australorps.
Too bad I can't have roosters

It's city code.

I buy fertilized eggs in e-bay and use my incubator to hatch them. I also use my Australorps if they are broody to do the work in hatching them.
During the summer, I add supplements to their water to keep them hydrated and prevent stress. It works really well.
I let them out to forage and stretch their wings, have fun 2x a day making sure I'm around 'cause I lost 3 from hawks.

My coop is 6' high by 10' wide by 8' depth. We are one of the participants in the Chicken Coop Tour hosted by the Food Conspiracy Co-op in Tucson, held in December, answering questions from like minded people.

We got lucky when we adopted a dog! He thinks he's one of the flock and he ranks 3 in the pecking order
