Hi everyone, I am new to backyard chickens, and chicken raising for that matter, and thought I would introduce myself.

We currently have 4 chicks, approximately 3 weeks old. As yet that are unsexed. We are not allowed to keep roosters, so sweating it out to see if they are all girls.. We adopted the chicks from a kindergarten hatching incursion.

Two of the chicks are black and two yellow. I am assuming the yellow ones are Isa browns, and have no idea what the black ones will be.

I am a country girl at heart, and I think deep down I am trying to return to my country roots. I "try" growing my own veggies with varying degrees of success (more failures than success but hey I am slowing getting there!!!). I love the idea of self sustainability, and hope to get there eventually.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone, and sharing information and experiences with you all

Janine

Hello and welcome to BYC

Once your chicks are around 6 weeks old post nice clear pics in the What Breed Or Gender is This? section so we can see what you've got. In the meantime check out the Gardening section for tips and discussions on growing veggies. I took my awhile to figure my garden out, but was it worth it!
