I have been reading the boards for a little while but I am a first time poster. I live in a small town in SW pennsylvania (about 40 miles outside of Pittsburgh ) I am fairly new to raising chickens and reading these forums over the past few weeks has been a really big help to me. I have a small flock with a variety of breeds both Standards and Bantams I have also recently ordered a batch of chicks from MMcM that arrived earlier in the week. I really enjoy my birds and am looking forward to all of the knowledge and advice I can get discussing this new hobby of mine with everyone

Hey im fairly new too I just placed my order with McMurray....wont arrive until June tho did all your babies make it to you safely? And do the larger breeds in your flock pick on the bantams?

Hi Carmelchickie... Yes all of my chicks from Murray arrived healthy and in good shape, I did lose a cochin bantam on the second day that just didn't thrive I suppose but the rest are all doing well. My chickens get along pretty good, there is some picking but I actually have a pair of OE banties that will stand their ground against the bigger gals. I keep my more docile birds (like silkies and cochins) in their own coop and it seems to be working pretty well. Good luck with your order, I know I just couldn't wait to get mine and was so excited to walk in the post office and hear all of that little chirping
