Hey. I live in Canton GA and started getting involved in having my own produce at home and I believe recently it was approved to have a chicken coop in my backyard within city limits. I found this place an am hoping to maybe find other people who don't live too far away where I could maybe see what they've implemented and get tips here as well on how to best do this. I won't be starting for awhile because I like to do all my research first (measure twice, cut once type of thinking).

! Pleased you joined our flock! Good luck with your construction project!

Thanks.

I have been reading some and it seems like sunlight is important for the hens.

I have a few questions regarding the coop. Is there an ideal temperature range the inside of a coop so reach so I can plan sufficient venting inside of the coop as well as implement methods to help encourage the right temperature?

I think the important things are safe, secure draught free coop with plenty of ventilation - that may sound at odds. But you want the ventilation high up so it doesn't blow on the birds but, reduces humidity so there won't be condensation inside. Visit the coops section. You can also have windows(backed by 1/2 inch hardware cloth) as a screen with shutters to close them off when need be. Incidentally chickens love to look out windows from the roost etc.
