Hi!

My name is Amanda and I live with my husband and daughter, our two dogs, and my chickens. I have four chickens: Two Easter Eggers (16 weeks), a Silver Laced Cochin (15 weeks), and a Golden Laced Cochin (15 weeks). We got all of them when they were 3 days old. This is my first time having backyard chickens, but something that I have wanted to do for quite a while. Unfortunately we just got back from vacation to discover that two of our sweet 'girls' are actually roosters (one Easter Egger and the Golden Cochin). I am desperately trying to figure out where and how to re-home them. I'm really looking forward to the first egg from our two girls as well as learning more about chickens. Have a great day!

Welcome!! It's sad that two of your flock are roosters. Hopefully you can find some good homes for them.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry your wound up with two roos, you might try posting in your state thread to see if anyone local to you might be looking for one https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread you can also place an Ad in the BST forum after you have 20 posts, there is a section for animals in need of free rehoming.

Welcome to BYC!

Oh no....Roosters!! Kelsie has given you the link to your state thread. Maybe someone nearby can take your precious boys off your hands and give them a good home.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

Boy, that was a dirty trick - morphing into cockerels while you were on vacation. Maybe they were just angry that you didn't take them with or even bring them back a t-shirt.

There are so many "surprise" (should be SHOCK) roosters popping up in everyone's life, that is one of the most common things mentioned on this thread aside from " my dogs massacred my chickens."

At least your boys are alive & healthy and may find good homes. Best of luck placing them. You could also put up an ad in the feed stores where chickeny folks will see it.
