Hello Everyone

After a long time of reading and peeking at all your post I have finally joined :) Just started with our backyard flock 6 Rhode Island Reds 4 bantams and 4 ISA Browns all about 2 -3 weeks old. Will be adding some guinea keets in june (the hubbys request). Right now I am just enjoying watching the chicks grow and trying to figure out which ones are roos and pullets. I change my mind every other day lol.
Still working on finishing up their coop need the weather to help out if that is going to be completed on time.

Welcome to BYC! My husband and I are the proud owners of 6 Isa Browns that are 2 weeks and 5 days old! They have such wonderful personalities and are always hustling about. They make us laugh! We are also finishing up their coop and are hopeful for a dry, sunny weekend to get it all done. Ehhh who am I kidding??... I keep adding little "touches" here and there this poor coop will probably never be completed. Hubby is a trooper though... he's used to me changing my mind a 100 times on projects and keeps right on building.
Good luck with your little ones.

So glad you could join our community!! When your chicks grow up a bit, you can post pics in our What Breed and Gender section for help with sexing....https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

Good luck with the coop build! Always build it bigger than you think you will need. As you will eventually want MORE chickens!! Ha!

Welcome to our flock! :)

Thank you everyone!! I will try and post some pictures of the little guys when I get a chance. TwoCrows that is what I have read and learned about coops never finished and never big enough. We just got our and the more I read and learn about different breeds the more I want to add. The coop can house about 20 when its finished. We can always expand or build another one as space is available and hubby is pretty handy. I am concerned about the predators where we live so this one is big enough and small enough for me at the same time to make sure I get it right. Will be learning as we go.

I'm glad you joined our community!

Good luck with your chicks and future guineas! Isa Browns and Rhode Island Reds are both excellent productive breeds.

Hi and welcome to our flock!

So glad you joined the BYC community! Congratulations on your new chicks. You've picked out some excellent breeds. ISA Browns and Rhode Island Reds are very good layers with generally docile temperaments, too. I've greatly enjoyed raising my Rhode Island Red, as she's been a productive layer.

Enjoy watching your chicks grow! Before you know it, they'll be adult laying hens. Hope you end up with lots of pullets!
