Afternoon everyone 
The name's Bear and I'm from Australia. I've been lurking for a little while and finally decided to show myself.
I grew up with chickens but have been hen free for around 10 years now. I had a great mixed Rhode Island, Australorp, Leghorn flock that started in my teens as part of my agricultural studies and continued into my 20s. Lack of time and money left me unable to set up another flock after my last girl passed.
I currently have two ?blue partridge? Silkies and am in the early stages of building a flock after finally settling into my new house (really I've just been indecisive on breeds for the past 12mths). I am not 100% on their colour or sex so you'll be sure to see another post about that later on
Obviously as an animal lover I'm biased but I thoroughly enjoy the companionship and antics chicken give us plus the cost free bonus of eggs!
Aside from the new chooks I have 2 dogs, fish and a cockatiel, a very small family than what I'm used too.
Outside from the animals I'm a bit of a homebody. I'm an avid gardener (so you can imagine the plans I have for the new house lol), reader, bushwalker and horse rider. I also write, draw and play a few instruments but they tend to lose out with everything else lately. I work in the retail agricultural industry and have been involved in the animal industry all my life.
