Hello fellow chicken lovers

Hello fellow Aussie and others.

Well my little turkey hatched. Here are some pics from pip to hatch which took about 8 hours total. I resisted the urge to open the incubator.

Question - At what point can I lower the humidity in the incubator? It's just that it is really small and I have two containers in there to maintain the humidity for the hatching. There isn't much room for the chick and I am worries he might drop his head in the water.

If you have more eggs in there that are due to hatch soon it will be better to take the chick out of the incubator and put it in the brooder. Any other eggs in there that are due to hatch soon will need the higher humidity.

lol. Well a friend of mine went to a nursery (plant) to get some trees and they got to talking and she told the lady how she had a broody chicken, so the lady gave her some eggs, including a turkey egg. Well the chicken hatched the chicks but has since gotten off the next because a turkey egg takes one week longer. So we thought we would put it in an incubator and see what happens. Well the darling little thing is hatching as we speak. lol.
It will be interesting to hear how the pecking order dynamics play out with a turkey among the chickens.
