Hello Fellow Chicken People

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
They all look like pullets to me. Except maybe the Silkie. Who knows? I don't own Silkies.
She (he?) did let out a battle cry while chasing a grasshopper the other day, so you might be right! My husband calls her my "decoy" because she would likely be first to go. He's so mean. 😂

I am so excited to be here, and learn from you all! I'm new to chickens- I've wanted them for almost a decade, but our city didn't allow backyard chickens. So... we sold our suburban Dallas house, and bought a 100 year old farmhouse in rural Central Texas. All of my friends thought it was crazy, and some of my family even. But, we've made it a year, and picked out a small flock of 6 baby chicks to spoil this spring (probably all roosters with my luck 😄), and 4 duckings that were essentially a rescue mission. It hasn't been an easy transition, but I have enjoyed the hard work and simplicity of life here. I think I'd have traded anything to not have to sit in traffic anymore. These babies are about 13 weeks old, and we are still waiting on that first egg... or cockadoodledoo!
