We just finished our coop and got our pullets today. 1 Black Australorp, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Cuckoo Maran & 2 Buff Orpingtons. We are so excited to have our little urban farm!

Welcome to BYC. I would suggest putting a hardware cloth or heavy wire barrier around the lower portion of your pen. A coon can reach through that bottom wire and tear your chicks apart.

x 2 what Sourland said - plus it's really hurts their feet to be on wire all the time- the smaller opening(mesh) is not as bad.
