Wing It Ranch

Haha you think? I know it's really early but that's a pretty big comb on such a little body. He's also the boldest!
I would put money on it... looks like 2 little girls with him also but a late blooming boy might sneak in over the next few weeks.

I’m glad to hear your free ranging went well. My Barred Rock is probably my most chill hen. She mostly ignores any new chicks I add. It’s the EEs that are always causing trouble. They set at the bottom of the pecking order and always act like they have something to prove when the little ones come around. The EEs are also mean when I collect eggs. They are never actually broody they just act like I’m bothering them and try them bite me when I reach for any eggs.

That's w i l d @Tstraub as my EEs are the absolute most golden retriever of all my chickens, friendly, sweet, obliging to everyone around them.

Definitely not a breed thing - probably just a genetic strain thing.

I love all the pics so much of the babies and mama and I am so glad it's been going so well :D 📣:woot

Free range went well! Mama kept the babies pretty close to the pen. As soon I opened the door, she took the babies right out... and my sweetest hen, an EE, walked right passed her to steal some food. You can see she snuck in behind the babies. Haha.

I watched my Barred Rocks closely. They're my top birds and can be bullies. This one actually ran over when she heard Mama tidbitting for the babies. She was well behaved, thankfully!

The only bit of drama is that chickens (no matter the age) don't really understand the concept of doors.. the babies and mama would constantly accidently separate by the run fence and they'd freak not able to get to each other.
Woot woot! So where did they go to bed at?
