Hi all, lovely to be here
I've been keeping hens for 20 years or so (every other animal under the sun for FAR longer-ex vet nurse). My most notable hen moment was visiting our local 'petting farm' type of place to purchase some chicks, being shown their mega-amazing, latest technology, 1000s of pounds worth of incubator and watching their faces fall when I told them my hatch rate was better than theirs just using a lamp, a cardboard box, a hygrometer, an old baking tray and thermometer, oh, and manually turning my eggs. Plus a few batches had come from the US to the UK thus reducing my chances of success
Currently keep Marans (cuckoo, copper, bluebell and a blue splash cockerel), some ex-batts, dark Brahma bantam, cuckoo silkie and the new addition (brahma bantam/Marans cross). Love them all
