Hello everyone! I can see that y'all love your birds as much as we do ours.

I live in West Texas and have had birds most of my life. Our chickens are Free Ranged except for at night when they go to bed. I am afraid that our local wildlife also would like a free Chicken meal and we would quickly be out of business. As you can see by our avatar our animals are very confused. That hen raised that calico that was dumped in front of our home.....so our cat is a chicken our dog is a cat as he was brought home and quickly learned to follow the momma cat around....we had a cat that raised bunnies and our dog has raised quail....They are all part of our crazy family we just love! Recently my cousin wanted into the quail family so we gifted ours to her as we would like to try and move in the direction of breeding Crele Orpingtons....it looks like it will be a little harder then we originally thought. We have really nice Buff Orpingtons, Black Orpingtons, Black Australorps, Ameracuanas, and Gold Winedots. We are looking for either some purebred Crele Orpingtons or an amazing Cockoo Marans to cover our hens with and continue to work on the off spring toward the goal of ending up with Crele Orpingtons. I know it is going to be a journey....but anything worth having is worth working for. I sure look forward to any guidance in genetics and quality y'all could send our way.
I could drive a fair bit in Texas if someone thought they might have the genetic make up I might need. I keep reading about Lemon Cockoos and the Double barred Marans....please forgive me if I got their names wrong they are very new to me....I would like chicks of both colors if that is what I need.

Thank y'all again

Welcome to BYC!!!! Its nice to have another chicken lover around! Wow.. does your cat ever sit in the hen box? he he that would be a sight to see wouldnt it?

Thank you everyone!!!

You might not be able to see in the avatar...but the hen was covering the Calico named Patches that she raised, Patches new kittens and a couple of eggs...All our animals are totally confused. Our turkeys and Peafowl were hatched by hens....so no one is sure of their identity. Lucky for our dog who speaks all of their language and when one sounds a little upset he is all over it. Someone came into our yard one day saying....."Your dog has a Bob Cat" sure enough he was standing between his birds and a Bob Cat who thought it should have free Chicken take out.

Hey KickedCowboy...nice snake hide...they have been awful this year!

Thank y'all....it is so easy to go chicken crazy....especially living out in the middle of nowhere,,,,they are so entertaining. Who can not watch them running across a lawn...wings flapping like B 52 bombers chasing a grasshopper? While everyone elses yard is full of scorpions, Spiders, snakes and Grasshoppers...ours is pretty bug free.
