! Sounds like a pretty cool set up you have there, texastee2012! Best of luck to you!

Thank you Redsox! There is no place like home. Before my husband was paralyzed he was able to build a couple of large coops that we placed in a high fence garden that was about 140' X 65' we were in the process of breaking it into a couple of areas and were going to enclose the top.....then he came down with Guillian Barre Syndrome after injuring his back...we stayed in the hospital for 41 day and with God's help and Mercy he is walking again after not being able to move for about a year...he does still have some nerve damage and it messed up his eyes some so it is hard for him to weld. I just placed all the quail we had to a cousin in hope of trying to raise the Crele Orpingtons....it will take a while to get them...but the same faith that brought us through something that would crush most folks will help us build the flock we so look forward to! God is good and He will help us with this as well. We have about an acre and a half of lawn and our bird keep it trimmed so nice and keep it bug free. We have 22 little Winedot, Buff Orpingtons, and Black Orpington chicks that will allow me to cull out some of our less desirable hens for our breeding project. I give our hens to needy folks so they will have a flock of their own so they can have fresh eggs....during deer season we fill our deer tags and take the meat to needy folks as well. I even dehydrated eggs this year and put them in vacuum packed bags for hard times....That was alot of work! but it should be pretty good in a bind. I made deer jerky also and Wow was it good....man you just can not buy that kind of meat anywhere.

Here's your state thread: Texas Some of the peeps on there may be able to help you find the chickens you are looking for. Please tell us how you dehydrate eggs! I've never heard of that before. And I'm with you on the jerky. We call it "Biltong" here in S.A. and I absolutely love it.

Thank you Sumi and RedBarnFarms....I am so happy to have a chance to meet each of y'all. When Kluck Krazy.....it is great to be with others who suffer from the same thing...LOL. It is so EGGciting to be able to learn from such a pool of knowledge.

Thank you everyone!!!

You might not be able to see in the avatar...but the hen was covering the Calico named Patches that she raised, Patches new kittens and a couple of eggs...All our animals are totally confused. Our turkeys and Peafowl were hatched by hens....so no one is sure of their identity. Lucky for our dog who speaks all of their language and when one sounds a little upset he is all over it. Someone came into our yard one day saying....."Your dog has a Bob Cat" sure enough he was standing between his birds and a Bob Cat who thought it should have free Chicken take out.

Hey KickedCowboy...nice snake hide...they have been awful this year!
thank ya!
