Maybe it was only down for a little while, like when a mother hens leaves the nest to eat. I know they say not to open the incubator but I moved chicks as they dried and removed the egg shells, the older chicks would fumble all around the empty shells and knock the other eggs around so much. I let them dry over 24 hours first. When I had two eggs left I candled them and saw one was empty and the other had a chick with movement so I put it back. It had pipped though. This morning its hatched and doing well. I did see some people waited 25 days and one threw an egg in the trash and it hatched there later, they heard it peeping and rescued it. So I am wishing you all the luck and hoping for a great hatch.
