(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

My husband and I are finishing up building our first coop! It should be ready for chickens in a couple of weeks. :)

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We are going to be getting some girls in a couple of weeks.

(3) What breeds do you have?

None yet, but I am interested in Orpingtons, and Australorps.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

We are looking forward to fresh farm eggs.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Reading, starting to work outside in the garden, taking care of my animals, and plants.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Married, have a grown son, 2 lab/shepherds, 2 cats, and starting our first garden, and excited to get chickens!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I just found this site while looking into what bedding to put down in the coop, nesting boxes, and the chicken run!

Welcome to BYC!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Nice introduction. Australorps and Orpingtons are wonderful breeds. Very docile, super friendly, they live long lives and are hardy in weather and health. Enjoy this new adventure, if you have any questions about anything along the way, be sure to ask. Welcome aboard!
