Welcome to BYC! Looks like a nice spot you got there. I would be concerned about using chicken wire to protect your chicken yard. Recommend reading the pages here on predator prevention.

Thank you! What’s probably not apparent in the picture is the predator fence around the bottom (still gotta back fill it, but the weather hasn’t cooperated lately- blah), and we have a single strand of electric around the bottom along with aviary netting on the top. I’m hoping that will be sufficient, but time will tell! We lost a sweet bunny just before Christmas last year to what we think was a raccoon who reached in her cage and killed her . I think I was more traumatized than my 12 year old daughter who found her, and she was really upset by it. If you have any other suggestions on beefing it up, I definitely appreciate it, and I will review some other threads on here as well to see what others do!

OMG yes! The weather has been uncooperative to getting them outside! Already had to swap the larger group to my bigger stall in the garage and put the meat ones back in the basement brooder (for now)! Tuesday I’m hoping we can permanently get the flock outside! Go away stormy weather!! ⛈
