Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan
You certainly shouldn't be jumped on just for having an opinion. However, there are many different production goals, which may include maximum use of things like forage, and some chickens are better at foraging than the breeds you are interested in. Also, many people keep dual-purpose breeds to enjoy both good egg production and the ability to eat the extra birds they produce. There is also an advantage to keeping up bloodlines of many different breeds that themselves may not be great meat or egg producers - for example, Egyptian Fayoumi chickens have superior disease resistance, and that may be useful in the future for development of other breeds.
Part of the advantage to a site like BYC is for different opinions to be shared, and appreciated for their different insight on raising and keeping chickens. Hope you enjoy it as much as BYH
