Hi All!
I've owned some backyard chickens for the last year and have used this site time and time again for advice and wisdom. From everything to how to prepare for getting my first chicks, to which types to get, to an impacted hen, this site has seen me through all of it!
My first flock from last spring consisted of three birds. I lost one to an impacted egg during her first lay, and gave the second to a friend because this RIR was quite vocal and I live in town. Our last 1 year old bird is a Barred Rock named Nugget, and she just went broody... I'll be doing more research on that!
I also have two 9 week old chicks, Noodle (a Colombian Wyandotte) and Niblet (a Cherry Egger) and we are working through the introduction process between them and Her Majesty, Nugget. We also just finished building our own coop, which was a lot of fun and work!
I look forward to asking questions and continuing to learn more!
