This is my first year raising chickens, and I'm trying to be very careful with my little ladies, and do lots of research to make sure if that.
Nice to meet you all!
Also, from the template:
Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This is my first year with chickens, and I got my pullets this August.
How many chickens do you have right now?
We have four
What breeds do you have?
Red star, Black star, Rhode Island red and Austalorp. Each of ours is a different breed, partially to tell them apart, and partially to test which breeds we like best.
What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
It's really fun to watch the birds play and dust bathe, but there's always something so fun abut checking the nest box each day to see if there are new eggs.
What are some of your other hobbies?
I read, draw and do acting!
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family is suburban, and trying to be a little more environmentally conscious and animal friednly, so chickens are a perfect little thing for that! I'm a full time student, currently, but still find time for my girls.
Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've known abut BYC for a while, and it's been incredibly useful for a lot of the research I've find prior to getting my chickens. Now that I've had them for a while, thought it would be good to join in!
