Hello all of my fellow chicken appreciators! I have a small flock on a hillside in Central PA: about 16 assorted adult hens (and a Seabright mom with 6 chicks) and another 26 3 1/2 week old chicks (a mix of heavy birds--Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, Aracauna, Barred Rocks, and Buff Orpingtons). I have been raising chickens for about 6-7 years, for eggs mostly, and the sheer delight of having them as companions.

At the moment, I have a fairly urgent request. I have just posted a question on the "Raising Baby Chicks" page that I would love some response to: whether it's possible to flip chicks and chickens between 2 hen-house spaces in order to give the chicks more indoor room while I'm away on vacation for 3 weeks. And can I get some consensus that this would be preferable to letting the partly-fledged chicks outside to free range during the day, and hoping they come back to the hen-house to roost at night?

I will post much more in the future: glad to be part of the Forum.
Best wishes,
TussyMtChicks

from UT! Sorry, I'm still a beginner, but I'm sure somebody responded to your posts in raising baby chicks. Good luck!
