Hi, BYCers! I'm Molly, a first-time chicken mama from Kansas. We decided to raise a flock of chickens after chicken-sitting for my neighbors' flock when they were out of town. I grew up in the 'burbs and so hadn't had any experience with chickens, but it was pretty much love at first sight
I've had my girls for about 6 weeks now, and so far they've been great. My first flock consists of 2 buff orpingtons named Pot Pie (who may be a roo but hopefully not - eek!) and Chick Pea, a red sex link named Gertie, and a black sex link named Pork Chop. They currently reside in a giant cardboard box in my house, along with my boyfriend and our two cats (who are both already scared of the chicks). Hopefully within the next week or two we will have their coop finished up so they can finally move outside. They're about 7 weeks old now so they're definitely ready.
Anyway, I've been lurking around on this forum for a few weeks now, and have been so impressed by everybody so far. I've already gotten more helpful information than I can keep track of. I'm sure I will be a regular visitor as my little ladies grow up!
