Yes, the information has been invaluable! Sometimes it gives me more questions than answers, LOL !
Have you checked out the Coops/Runs articles? There are 100's of ideas you can get there that will help you get it right the first time. Be sure to make it BIG, chickens hate to be crowded and it will help you keep it clean if you can stand up and move around in it.

Best of luck!
So fun to see your excitement about chickens. So many of us suffer from chicken hysteria. My chicken math has led me to the brink of hoarding! I currently have two sets of baby chicks. One set is five weeks and the other three weeks. That's eleven. I have 6 bantams (d'uccle millefleur including a rooster) coming in June and 4 Spitzhaubens coming in September! That's about 20 chickens for my first year! So welcome, welcome!etc.

What part of Al are you in? I’m 20 mins from Montgomery.Hi everyone! I've wanted chickens for years and now finally convinced (read coerced) my husband to agree
He can build ANYTHING and puts great effort into all his projects. So..... I want to get my design right the first time. Let me be clear, I have NEVER raised chickens before. I want a coop with growing room but I plan on having 4-6 chickens to start with a max at 12 later on. MY brother-in-law has chickens and will give me some starters to have eggs immediately. Maybe later let one of my hens hatch out some chicks. Anyway, LOVE this site!! So excited to be a part of this community!
I want to have the DLM in the coop so I plan on having it around two and a half feet off the ground with a drop down door to clean it out. I'm thinking the coop will be 5X8 or 6X8??? I would love to hear pros and cons of this size and concept. Thanks!
