Well, we got the chicken bug last week and went crazy with 18 chicks, mainly RIR, but a few others mixed in. We also have 12 White Leghorns ordered from Tractor Supply because my dad doesn't want all brown eggs. We have converted an old hoghouse to our chickenhouse and have 2 - 8x16 coops built in it, so they have quite a bit of room to run around. We bought straight runs, and have no idea how to sex the chicks, so we will have to wait and see what we get I guess. We plan to eat the roosters and keep 10-12 hens for laying. Wish us luck.
