(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I’ve had chickens from May 2019. Soon after we bought a home with an acre of land in Chugiak, Alaska. I thought about getting goats too, but I love my chickens SO much that I’m sticking with my feathered friends.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 11, but next week I’ll be adding 12 chicks.

(3) What breeds do you have? RIR, red sex link, black Austrolorp, Silverrudd’s Blue, Russian Orloffs, EE’s,

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love the eggs of course, but chicken tv is the best! They are so entertaining.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I like buying craft supplies and sometimes I actually finish something! I love listening to podcasts about many different topics.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation.... I am married with two kids. I have two Devon Rex kitty boys who bring us a lot of joy and aggravation lol. I manage benefits for a non profit tribal healthcare organization. And I love living in Alaska and have a lovely little cabin on a lake that we love spending time at all year round.

Hi! I just happened upon this thread... I live in Palmer AK & while I started with chickens, (I had Americanas, Barred Rock, French Copper Marans, Black Australops, & then Bantam Cochin. I currently have the 3rd chicken I ever hatched (White Bantam Cochin) as my token chicken. The rest are ducks & geese.
