Hello!
My wife and I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and have always been interested in homesteading; raising chickens is a natural fit for our eventual transition to a simpler and more satisfying lifestyle. We also see it as an awesome opportunity to teach our kids some very basic life skills in caring for other living beings. Other hobbies include bee-keeping, gardening, wood/metal crafting, hunting, fishing and sewing (among other things I probably forgot to mention).
We've had chickens for about four years now (Buff Orpingtons, White Ameraucanas, Rhode Island Reds) and recently received our first week old chicks (possible lavender orpingtons, salmon favorelles, black australorps, and silver-laced wyandottes… have to wait a bit longer to be sure). I'm very excited to tap into the wealth of knowledge that this community has to offer, as well as get to know others who share the same passions! I look forward to meeting you!
