Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself to this huge community of chicken lovers.
I've wanted chickens for a decade at least and just moved to an area where I have half an acre of land. Unfortunately, Beavercreek doesn't allow chickens.
However, I'm so obsessed with having my own little flock that I'm trying to figure out how to petition our local board of zoning appeals and city council into making it legal. I'm hoping to meet some people who've had success turning their own towns laws around, and maybe even some local people in on the fight. I've been reading about chickens like crazy and one of my mothers friends said she'd let me come out to her farm to learn more about keeping hens. I'm excited to start this journey (hopefully someday soon!). In my imaginary flock, I'd like to get with five golden laced wyandottes. My family is super handy, so I'd build my own coop and run. Arrg, someday!
