Recently moved to a remote property in Northern NM and am now raising my first flock. I've never raised chickens, I'm excited to start. Built a 8'x12' coop, still under construction, and starting a 12'x20' run. Got 12 chicks to start 4/15/2020, not sure on breeds, 8 hens and 4 unknown.
Looking forward to learning and sharing.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Leave that space between the rafters open and cover it with 1/2" hardware cloth to keep out predators. It's a great spot for high ventilation.
I'd also add a ridge vent and gable vents.
Great, great job on the coop and starting it in time for the chicks!!

Welcome to the pulse beat of the chicken community, BACKYARD CHICKENS. What breeds
did you get? If you are uncertain you can post individual photos of them (6-8 weeks old is best) at "what breed or gender is this?"
