Hi! My name is Rita and I just recently got back into raising chickens.. I grew up on a huge chicken farm that my Dad was the manager of. Anyway, I got a mix of chickens (already laying) just last week, 6 Black Australorps, 1 Buff Orpington, 4 Rhode Island Reds, 2 White Rocks, a blk/white Polish and 1 Leghorn. That's the hens. I got talked into a rooster (didnt want to gooo that route lol) but I took him anyway bcuz the gal wanted him to go to a really good home...she gave me him and one of the RIR's free for taking him. He's a tiny little banty rooster that she said 'doesnt do anything and she never heard him crow even." Well, he came out of the crate crowing and he's climbed on about every one of the hens! LOL I named him "Little Henry". Hens seem to be happy, 11 eggs a day out of 15 hens getting used to a new home so I'm pretty happy about that!
I'm so happy to have found a forum with so many people who are as crazy about their birds as I am! ~Rita
