Hi everyone,

After spending the last few months reading posts from this forum, I’ve decided that is time to join it!

I live in a city all my life but decided to start raising ducks in my urban backyard. My goal is to test myself if I can handle a small flock before deciding if I could handle a farm in the future. I bought duck eggs and after few attempts, I successfully hatched them. While I was looking to get max 6 ducks, by following the advised posted by the members of this forum, I had 80% hatching rate, so I’m now the happy momma of 10 ducks:2 Swedish, 4Welsh Harlequin and 4 Khaki Campbell! Looking forward to read and share our experience of raising ducks!

Well, we have an urban law since 2017 that allows laying chicken or ducks at a rate of 1 bird by 1000 sqft for residential lots of over 10 000 sqft. I did not meant to have 10 but once there, I couldn’t decide which one to give away, so here I am hahaha

Wow that's a whole lot of duck to start off with. I tried ducks and they were fun, but they ate me out of house and home. :eek:

Thank you for the suggestion! Indeed, they are I guess different than raising chickens. I had to increase their living space, so my backyard is now much smaller... but I love them!
