Hello from California

Hi I am Mary, my daughter KC and I are picking up our first chicks ever, tomorrow morning.

I must confess I am a bit nervous. I was feeling pretty confident until I foolishly read some of the emergency posts here on BYC last night. That FREAKED me out!!

So new friends I am unashamedly asking for some encouragement.
My daughter who is 25 tends to be uncharacteristiclly calm in our dog emergencies so I am hoping if anything terribly gross happens she will be around. My husband thinks I'm a bit off my rocker and is taking a wait and see approach to this whole project. Ultimately I'm in charge of the girls club.

I've been on this site a hundred times this past few weeks and already appreciate you all so much.

Thank you all for the welcome. We brought our babies home today. Six of the most adorable little creatures ever. I'm already in love and want to go sleep in the garage to guard them like a true mama hen. Their names are Gypsy, izzy, Mrs Charles, Ginger, Lexi, and Camilla (my daughters white frizzle). My iPad won't let me post pics so I'll have to go online with a regular computer soon to do that.

I love your chicks' names! They sound gorgeous! Do you know what breed you got?
Anyway, good luck with them, and I hope that you'll never have to use the emergencies section!
