Helloooo BYC peeps!

I’m MsHarryWinston from British Columbia, Canada. I’ve been reading the forums here for a couple of months now and I figured it was about time I join.

Unfortunately I have no chickens, so sad. But that’s because my husband and I currently live in a condo. So instead we are trying to get our hand on some quail to keep on our balcony.

We want to save up for a house with some land and would like to keep quail, chickens, and rabbits for eggs and meat.

This year I’m teaching myself how to grow veggies from seeds with a balcony garden using a combination of container garden and square foot garden styles for the best use of the space. We had a big veggie garden for a while when I was little but I was never taught anything about it so I’m having fun learning on my own.

My husband and I would both love to be more self-sustainable and have a more organic/thoughtful lifestyle. Putting good quality things on and in our body. As part of this I already make things like goat milk soap and lotion from scratch.

I’m really looking forward to the day that I can have chickens and breed rabbits. But in the meantime I’m working on building a DIY forced air incubator so that we can have some quail for eggs and meat.

I figure it’s all about doing what you can, where you are, with what you have. Instead of holding off because things aren’t “perfect”. This is our time to start small and learn, and a good small scale test to see if going bigger is really for us or just a fun dream.

Looking forward to meeting you all in the forums!

Best wishes in your endeavors and a great intro!:clap

Thank you! The quail forum has been great. It’s what actually made me decide to create an account now instead of waiting until we had chickens. I love that there are so many people that have quail. Everyone here is so generous with their knowledge!
