I bought my family's old homeplace with about 14 acres and a old barn about three year ago . Well its been a eye opening experience I have kinda turned the old homeplace into a poor man's minifarm. I have been raising some crops and have planted a bunch of berries ( strawberry and blackberry and blueberry). Over the course of the winter I developed the urge to add chickens to the place so now I have 31 Brahma chicks three weeks old I plan to keep some hens for laying and harvest roosters and hens that I don,t need for meat, I was brought up many years ago doing this and chicken and eggs tasted a lot better back then. I am married have a son two grandaughters and ride bicycles when I have time along with walking my brittany Lucy and work a full time job and try to fill all the empty spaces in my life with fun activies! My wife likes what I am doing but doesn't like doing the hands on farming with me, although she likes the fresh veggies!
