My hubby and I are new to raising chickens and have lots of questions. I've relied on this site during my research and wanted to stop lurking and actually contribute! I will say THANK YOU for all previous posts that helped me in the past and to all future posts that I know I'll rely on again!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chickens do you have?

Hi and :welcome
Great to have you here. I hope you fins all the info you need!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

We've got 6 Red Ladies from TSC that we raised from chicks (Rhode Island Reds and New Hampshires). They are now 22 weeks old and have been laying eggs about a month.

We also adopted 2 from a coworker's son who hatched them in an incubator. "Hatch-daddy" named the chicks Sam Whitchickie and MegaCluck (he's a Transformers movie fan). They are 8 weeks old and we have no clue if they are Roos or hens yet. Any thoughts on breed and/or gender?

Lovely birds!
Try posting in the "What breed or gender is this?" section. Your post will get more answers there. :)

Those are cute names. My granddaughter names our hens after Disney princesses. It looks to me like they are probably an Easter Egger pullet (left) and a Black Australorp pullet, but it would help to have a full body profile. If the bird on the left has greenish legs, it's definitely an Easter Egger.
