Hello!

At long last, our town finally voted to allow backyard chickens. It hasn't been enacted yet, so we're using the time between then and now to knuckle down on our research, network, and start building a coop.

A friend recommended Orpingtons to us, but we just found out a local monastery raises and sells Rhode Island Reds ... Do you think those would be a good breed for a couple of beginners?

Rhode Island Reds are a good chicken. They are friendly and great egg layers.
