Hi all, I currently live in the cold, foggy town of Montara, CA. Too many years of the Bay Area's cold (seriously, did we even have a summer last year?) are forcing my husband and me to find a warmer climate, somewhere in Manatee County. We currently don't have any chickens because we don't even have a tiny patio but once we move, roughly in December, we're going to buy several acres of land and very slowly learn to be more self-supporting. If I had my way we'd be there already but if I stay through the fall, I get to keep my California job (and salary!) when I move, which is a huge relief.

For now, I'd love to meet some coastside locals, get to know my future chicken-owning neighbors in Florida and learn all I can about my future egg and occasional dinner producers. I'm especially interested in learning more about any special considerations for raising chickens in the heat and humidity that I'm soooooooo looking forward to!
