Hello from Cocke County, TN

Just moved recently from Asheville, NC to Eastern, Tn. where we finally bought a house with at least enough yard ( 9/10 of an acre ) for a nice garden and a dozen or so hens

We are waiting on the weather to clear to bring in our first pullets and get the coop done. We are going to convert the back 1/2 of a 10x20 storage building and then put up a privacy fence behind it to encompass about 600 sq./ft for the run. We have been researching for nearly a year now and just waiting until we purchased the house. Our family consist of Myself, my fiance', her 11 y.o daughter (my step daughter for all intents) our Mcnab dog "Hogan", and our newfoundland x germanshepherd puppy "Bandit". We will soon be adding about a dozen pullets and a roo. I have my heart set on a BCM rooster but we may wait a bit on him.

This is a great forum and source of information...I am certainly happy it was saved and elevated to the level it is now.

P.S. I started an east Tennessee thread as well, after noticing there did not seem to be one and most of us had been hanging out in the general Tennessee thread...hope to see you there.

Welcome! Cocke county? Really? Is it full of pretty little roosters? Was it named for chicken enthusiasts? Sounds like you have a good thing there! Maybe I need to move to a place like that because we have all these pretty little roosters:

Welcome to BYC. Maybe you can register at the feed stores for your wedding gifts. It'd be more fun than shopping for sheets and towels, don't you think?
