Morning all! It sure looked nasty yesterday afternoon, but it actually feels pretty mild here this morning. Only got to around 25 here. Balmy! Get the suntan lotion.

It's going to slip back down to the c-c-c-c-cold temps by Thursday night, though. I'm going to do a light coop cleaning today and stuff the coops full of fresh shavings so everyone can snuggle in and stay warm. I guess most folks here practice the deep litter method . . . I use deep litter (shavings), but I can't stand to let it get dirty so I pick the coops out every day with my trusty whisk broom and kitty litter scoop. I do the pens every day, too; I just can't stand seeing them dirty. Now my house - - that's another story. Never drop by without calling first, as I need time to shovel everything into a closet.

Welcome to all the folks who are dropping in to our Mid-TN thread! There are so many in the past two days that I won't call you all out by name. I ramble on here many mornings while I enjoy my morning coffee. Everyone so far has been most tolerant of me.

THE STORY OF LUCY, PART I
(really rambling now . . . just move along if you have important things to do)

Here's a pic for Holly this morning . . . this is what you usually see when Lucy Ninja sees the treat bag:

Little pullet Lucy hustling for treats, 2008

Holly adopted the little bantam cochin Ninja chicken and began her journey into the land of mini cuteness. Lucy has a dark past as a mugger and a thief, though: she perfected the art of the flying Ninja kick that would dislodge the grape bag from my hands, and then she would take off with the bag in her beak. I swear she moved so fast she was just a black blur, like in the photo. It was like seeing a black dust bunny float by, as you could never see her little feet with all those feathers. One sunny Fourth of July she even jumped onto the patio table where we were eating lunch and tried to slip a chili dog off its bun! When we waved her off one dog, she just grabbed another one and started tugging with all her might, with chili and mustard flying everywhere! Naughty, naughty hen. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard. That is one funny, friendly little hen, and a fantastic broody: her chicks will never go hungry!

OK, I really do have to get moving this morning. . . stay warm, everyone, and have a good day!

Hey Ya'll, I'm in Portland Tn. But I live in Robertson County. I'm on the west side of I-65, five minutes from Franklin Ky.
Haven't been on the forum in a long time. All I do is work. Since I can't do much outside due to the snow thought I'd pop in here and see what's new.

.It's the cutest love affair around watching those two together..if we people could get along half that well in a relationship there would be no divorce attorneys needed

Well, plans changed here today and I'm not meeting Amy until Friday weather permitting so just a boring trip to the feed store and cleaning chicken pens...I so agree with you Jen..the chickens are clean but I need to spend as much time cleaning my house...watch out when these chicks move out there will be a dust cloud over Lebanon as I get it all out of my basement.I can't wait.
Well, off to go play with frozen water dishes and all that fun stuff

Your wandering prodigal has returned! We got back to Nashville at 12:30 last night/this morning. I got home at 1:30am and crashed. I teach today, so I am off to work here shortly. Just thought I'd check in and say hey to everyone!
The trip was AWESOME. I'll try to post a few pictures later. The food ranged from "interesting" to absolutely incredible. I have a new love for proscuitto and grilled italian sausage. YUM!

The dogs and cats were ecstatic to see me. The chickens were more philosophical. All of them seemed well though. I did have a pile of eggs that the chickens had cleverly hidden from my housesitter. Sneaky chickies.

Gotta run for now. Just wanted to drop by.
